U-BOATS IN THE BAHAMAS AND BERMUDA TRIANGLE

U-Boats in the Bahamas and Bermuda Triangle, by Eric T. Wiberg - Written and published in extract for in 2009. The first treatment of the Bahamas and Bermuda Triangle region's U-Boat depredations during World War Two, this analysis adds color and human drama as well as over 50 previously un-linked attacks on merchant ships. With the input and support of other experts and renowned U-Boat skipper and author Herbert A. Werner and Gaylord Kelshall the author helps to solve the misattributed wrecks of a dozen casualties. The author has sailed over the tracks of 50 of the wrecks and camped along out islands looking for the graves of victims. Overall some 65 Italian and German submarines set out on 75 war patrols in the region, and at least four of them left their bones in the area. Altogether Axis submarine attacked over 135 ships with a nexus to the Bahamas, and cast more than 400 survivors on the shores of the island, from some 7,000+ survivors cast adrift. As well as losing a Patrol Craft, Submarine Chaser, Destroyer and the only Naval Airship (blimp) lost to enemy fire in the war. The Allies lost prestige and millions of dollars of valuable war materiel, particularly during the first six months of 1942. Extensively researched with appendices, bibliography, index, and illustrations including a custom map. More at www.uboatsbahamas.com and www.ericwiberg.com
